IMPACT REPORT 2021

In 2021, we were continually reminded that the indomitable human spirit remains at the core of impact investing. Our Impact Report presents stories of the inspiring people and companies making an impact on our environment and society today.

Impact Measurement and Management

ABC Impact measures and reports the impact of our efforts in a transparent manner aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. With our focus on companies that demonstrate high growth and impact potential, evaluating social and environmental impact is an integral part of our investment management process.

Impact Assessment

With evidence-based research and data, we source and assess companies that provide products or services with clear and measurable environmental or social benefits. In due diligence, we evaluate and quantify the social and/or environmental impact that can be achieved through our investment, as well as analyse how the company manages ESG risks and opportunities.

Impact Management

Working with our partner companies, ABC Impact defines and agrees on impact targets and impact performance indicators that will be closely monitored during the lifecycle of our investment. We consolidate and analyse impact data so measure and report portfolio impact performance to our investors.

With inputs from The Bridgespan Group, we have developed a rigorous and consistent methodology that enables us to evaluate and quantify the impact of our prospective investments. Our impact approach and assessment framework incorporates key questions on prioritization, evaluation, and monitoring of targets linked to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Our impact measurement model aligns with the five performance dimensions set out by the Impact Management Project. We also use independent third-party research to further assess social and environmental impact.

Alignment With Impact Standards

Operating Principles for Impact Management

As of July 2022, we are a proud signatory of the Operating Principles for Impact Management (“Impact Principles”). The Impact Principles require signatories to examine and monitor the impact of their investments alongside financial returns. Driven by the International Finance Corporation, the Impact Principles are designed to greater discipline, transparency, and credibility to the impact investment market.

Independent Verification

We have engaged BlueMark, a Tideline company, to undertake an independent verification of the alignment of our impact management practices with the Impact Principles. The assessment findings cover both areas of strength as well as areas for improvement.

Please see the Verifier Statement here.

Principles for Responsible Investment

We are also a signatory of the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment (“PRI”). The UN PRI is the world’s leading proponent of responsible investment. As a signatory, we incorporate the PRI’s six principles for responsible investment into our investment and management practices to foster a more sustainable global economy.
